a. Driveways shall conform to the City Standard Details and SDC 3.1.200.K. Curb removal for driveways shall be by saw cutting.

b. Sidewalks crossing driveway approaches shall be concrete per City standards.

c. Driveway approaches shall be constructed to meet current ADA standards at all locations where sidewalks cross or will cross the driveway.

d. Driveway approaches on curbed streets shall be constructed of concrete, and shall be a minimum of 6-inches thick (8-inch minimum for commercial type driveways with #3 rebar at 12" O.C. each way). Driveway approaches on non-curbed segments may be either concrete or asphalt, and shall be constructed so that they do not block drainage along the street.

e. All driveways and alleys shall have a minimum thirty (30) foot long asphalt, concrete, or durable dust free segment from the back of sidewalk location.

f. Single family residential driveways (SDC 3.1.200.K.3.a):

1) Driveway shall be a maximum of 12 feet wide per off-street parking space, up to a maximum of 32 feet wide at the curbline.

2) Combined driveways with abutting properties shall not exceed 40 feet in width at the curbline.

3) Maximum slope of driveways shall not exceed 12% unless otherwise approved under SDC 3.1.200.K.3.d.

g. Multi-Family driveways (SDC 3.1.200.K.3.b):

1) For 10 or fewer dwellings, driveways shall be a maximum of 24 feet wide at the curbline. For more than 10 dwellings, driveways shall not exceed 32 feet in width at the curbline.

i. Commercial/Industrial driveways (SDC 3.1.200.K.3.c):

1) Driveways shall not exceed 40 feet in width at the curbline, the City Engineer determines that a greater width is necessary for traffic operations and safety.

2) Slope shall not exceed 10%

j. Common driveways serving multiple lots and flag lot driveways over 150 feet in length shall be provided with an emergency turnaround meeting the requirements of Public Works, or as required by the Police and Fire Department, and the Oregon Fire Code.

k. The angle between a driveway centerline and the parallel vehicle travel lane shall not be less than 75 degrees.

l. For driveways connecting to a street that has not been improved to it’s ultimate width, the driveway profile (i.e. vertical design) shall be designed to allow for future street widening (i.e. driveway slope to match the cross slope of the street to the future flow of the street).
